Steven P. Norris
Executive Director for Gift Planning

Steven has been in fund development for nearly eighteen years. Upon graduation from Letourneau University in Longview, Texas, Steven joined The Salvation Army Kansas and Western Missouri Division as Assistant Director of Development. While in Kansas City, Steven worked in all areas of development, but had a primary focus on cultivating major outright gifts. The University of Missouri at Kansas City awarded Steven with an MPA-non-profit management degree in 1999.

Four years later, Steven transferred to The Salvation Army Southwest Division located in Phoenix, Arizona. There, he served as Director of Planned Giving and was responsible for the planned giving program in southern Phoenix, northwest Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada.

In May of 2005, Steven accepted a position with the development team at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. During his tenure at MD Anderson, Steven has steadily increased the scope of his responsibility and now provides leadership over the national blended giving program and ultra high net-worth cultivation initiative. As Executive Director, he serves on the development office leadership team.

Steven is a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Association for Fundraising Professionals and past board member of the Planned Giving Council of Houston.

Shelley Robson
Senior Director for Gift Planning

Shelley has over 15 years of experience with non-profits and 5 years in the for profit sector in sales and marketing. She joined the Development Office at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2007. She currently manages the Gift Planning Fundraising Team and works with a portfolio of donors interested in giving major and planned gifts to the institution. Prior to MD Anderson, Shelley worked with CARE, a humanitarian organization fighting global poverty.

Shelley graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. She serves as Chair of the Board for Angela House an organization that assists women to successfully transition to society after incarceration. She is a member of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.

Mindy Boyum
Director for Gift Planning

Mindy has over 15 years of experience in fundraising and most recently worked at LIVESTRONG Foundation in Austin, TX, where she was a major gifts fundraiser. Prior to LIVESTRONG, she worked for over 11 years in Development at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Jacksonville, FL. She has a BS degree in Biology from Bethel University and an MBA degree from Cardinal Stritch University.

Mindy is a 25-year cancer survivor and actively supports cancer survivors through her role as a mentor angel with Imerman Angels and has served as a peer counselor to both cancer and amputate patients. Mindy's additional accomplishments include climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2012.

Karen Mongan
Associate Director for Gift Planning

Karen has been with the MD Anderson Development Office for almost 10 years. Before joining the Planned Giving Team in 2013, she worked with the Gift Processing team and in the Patient Programs area, where she visited patients and worked closely with MD Anderson physicians. Prior to working for MD Anderson, Karen worked in accounting in the Oil and Gas arena.

Karen received a business degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She is currently a member of the Planned Giving Council of Houston and the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.

Karen and her husband Toby have 2 children, Katherine and Austin, and a border collie, Streak. She enjoys tennis, gardening, traveling and watching college football.

Kendall Monroe
Associate Director for Gift Planning

Kendall joined the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2012. Prior to joining the Planned Giving Team, Kendall's work in the Development Office focused primarily on major gifts. Kendall holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Communication from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, and a Masters of Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Prior to coming to MD Anderson, Kendall worked in development and fundraising in the non-profit sector.

Kendall and her husband, Will, have two rescue dogs, Rocko and Goldie. In her free time, she likes to exercise, spend time with family and friends, and try Houston's newest restaurants.

Cristina Fleeks
Assistant Director for Gift Planning

A member of MD Anderson Cancer Center's Planned Giving Team, Cristina joined the institution in 2008. Prior to MD Anderson, Cristina was an occupational medicine coordinator. She holds a bachelor's degree in health with a minor in business from Sam Houston State University.

As Assistant Director of Development, Cristina works with the University of Texas System on estate/trust management, and is responsible for reporting on planned giving for the institution. She also assists with coordinating MD Anderson's legacy society, the Monroe Dunaway Anderson Society.

In her spare time, Cristina enjoys spending time with her family and friends and visiting Texas wineries.

Geri Davis
Senior Development Specialist

Geri has been a part of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's development office since July 2005 and is supervisor of the Contact Initiative Program.

She has many years of experience in the fields of manufacturing, retail, education and philanthropy.

Geri lives in Friendswood, is a workout enthusiast who also enjoys sailing and the outdoors.

She is the proud mother of one son, Darren, who serves in the USCG, a daughter-in-law Cathie and one granddaughter Emilie.

Nichelle Walker
Development Specialist

Nichelle joined the The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's planned giving team in June 2012, bringing more than 10 years of experience as an administrative assistant/executive assistant in the field of education.

Aside from working full time, Nichelle is also a full-time student at the University of Houston and will receive her BS in Sociology as well as Certification as a Non-Profit Professional in May 2014. Upon completing her BS, she plans to obtain a Master's degree in Social Work.

Nichelle enjoys fishing and golfing with her husband Castro and son Blake; as well as traveling, reading, and photography.
